Food Safety Tests
Clenbuterol (often called just “Clen”) is used by athletes and bodybuilders for it’s ability as a beta-2 agonist, is a highly selective stimulants and hormones, Such drugs in clinical practice for the treatment of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and other diseases, it can increase lean meat percentage and reduce fat deposition and to promote animal growth. In recent years, it has been added to the feed to improve animal fat and the lean meat percentage and can accelerate animal growth, it residues in animals and harm to consumers.
The Clenbuterol rapid test is an immunoassay based on the principle of competitive binding. Drugs which may be present in the urine specimen competes against the drug conjugate for binding sites on the antibody. This product does not require any equipment for the detection of urine clenbuterol residues, the whole testing process only needs about 5-10 minutes. The sensitivity is 5ng / ml (5ppb).
During testing, a urine specimen migrates upward by capillary action. Clenbuterol, if present in the urine specimen below the cutoff level, will not saturate the binding sites of the antibody in the test device. The clenbuterol conjugate will be captured by antibody and a visible colored line will show up in the test line region. The colored line will not form in the test line region if the drug level exceeds the cutoff concentration because it will saturate all the binding sites of the anti-Clenbuterol antibodies. A drug-positive urine specimen will not generate a colored line in the test line region because of drug competition, while a drug-negative urine specimen will generate a line in the test line region because of the absence of drug competition.
To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear at the control line region, indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added the membrane wicking has occurred.
Ractopamine (Rac) is the one kind of beta-agonist, normally, dissolves in hydrochloride as Ractopamine hydrochloride called Paylean. Rac is used as feed additives for transferring adipose tissue to muscle tissues in animals. Ractopamine, regarded as growth hormone, has been banned in European countries, Taiwan and China. Importation of Ractopamine remaining meat is banned in those countries.
The Ractopamine rapid test is an immunoassay based on the specific immune-chemical reactions between antigen and antibody. It relies on the competition between Ractopamine residues in the sample and the Ractopamine immobilized on T line on the membrane for the Ractopamine antibody-dye conjugate. If the drug is present in the sample, it will compete with the drug immobilized on T line, to the limited amount of dye-antibody. When a sufficient amount of drug in the sample is present, the drug will saturate the antibody. This it will show an extremely light or even invisible T line, indicating a positive result. If there is a negative sample (or the amount of the drug is lower than the minimum detectable concentration 2ppb), it will generate lines in both the T and C line section.
